What is Partial Knee Replacement?
This is where just one half of the knee is replaced – it’s a very similar operation to the above but involves a smaller incision, less bone being removed and a quicker recovery.
It is suitable where only one half of the knee is damaged. For it be a success you also need to have strong ligaments in your leg. If there is further deterioration in the other half of the knee the operation can be converted to a total knee replacement.
It is sometimes called a unicompartmental replacement. Find out more about this procedure on our FAQs page
