Hip Resurfacing

What is hip resurfacing?

This is a less drastic type of hip surgery which involves fitting a metal cap to the ‘ball’ the thigh bone and resurfacing the socket with metal.

In the past these have been deemed more suitable for active younger people, but there have been recent concerns about the release of metal particles, causing inflammation.

See our  FAQ’s  for more frequently asked questions on metal hip resurfacing.
